Three sentences, maybe four. Your thumb is resting a quarter inch from the arrow. Since Saturday, Mercury has been retrograde. Venus has been retrograde since October 3\. Both stay that way until November 13, which is eighteen days from today. Some accounts will sell you that stretch as a countdown: reach out now or the moment passes. Others will sell it as a warning: stay silent or ruin the bond. Notice that both versions come with a price. This is also the third Mercury retrograde of 2026\. The first ran from February 26 to March 20, the second from June 29 to July 23\. If every retrograde were a reunion season, this would be your third one this year. A season is context. It cannot make him ready, and it cannot make your message a mistake. That decision is yours, and so is the timing. So let's name where you are. This is the urge season. The fog has lifted enough for you to feel the full weight of missing him, and not enough for you to feel settled. The urge is real evidence of one thing: you miss him, and late nights are lonely. It is not evidence that he's thinking of you right now. It is not a sign, and it is not permission. I call it The 11pm Draft. The draft is good business for everyone except the woman holding the phone. "But what if this is the window?" Windows are for houses. A man who is ready to rebuild a relationship with you will still be ready on Thursday morning. Readiness doesn't expire at midnight, and neither does yours. If you decide to write to him, you can decide it rested, fed, and in daylight. Am I telling you never to reach out? No. It's your life and your phone, and I'm not the one who knows your life. I'm telling you that the midnight version of a decision and the 10am version are rarely the same decision. One of them is made by loneliness. The other one is made by you. Here's the part almost nobody talks about. Waiting before you send it isn't about him at all. It's about letting the person who has to live with the message be the one who decides to send it. Some of my Tuesday night clients come back a year later and say, "You were right and I hated you for it." Avoiding that sentence costs you one night. If you wake up and the message still feels true, and the reason is about your life rather than his reaction, the choice is yours to make. If you wake up and it doesn't, you've saved yourself a morning of refreshing your inbox. And if the right answer turns out to be never sending it, that isn't the consolation prize. That's a whole answer too. Ask yourself What am I hoping to feel the moment he reads it? Who else could give me some of that feeling tonight? If he never answers, will I still be glad I sent it? One thing to do today If a draft is waiting, move it out of your messages and into your notes, and title it with tomorrow's date. Read it after breakfast. Then spend tonight on one thing with your name on it: a call to a friend, a bath, the book on your nightstand. I can feel the urge without obeying it. Trust the timing.
